Excuse my poorly written title but I had to write it like that for impact! Guess what? STRESSIN’ AIN’T GONNA CHANGE NOTHING! Say it 3 times so you remember! lol It’s so true though. We as women need to realize that getting stressed over something doesn’t change the outcome. Either you take action or let it ride out. The choice is yours but stressing is not a catalyst for change. It’s the opposite. It keeps you where you are and makes you feel stuck, out of control and helpless.

How many times have you literally worried yourself sick over something you had no control over? Lord knows, I’ve had stomach knots, panic attacks, constipation, migraines, aches and pains, loss/gain of appetite and much more over the mere THOUGHT of a stressful situation. But guess what? I endured all that pain and discomfort for nothing because, looking back, it’s over and done with. It’s in the past and I wish I would have handled myself better, but that’s how we grow.

I used to stress so much that I literally lived my life wondering when the next avalanche of unfortunate circumstances would occur that would make me sick again. I once told a friend that it was hard for me to be happy because something ALWAYS seems to happen. What’s the use in being happy? For every happy moment there are many unhappy moments to counteract it! Two steps forward, one step back. I finally had to wake up and realize that’s no way to live. Anticipating the bad stuff isn’t living at all! It’s just existing, and doing a poor job of it. And we don’t want to just exist, right ladies? We want to dominate!

Something else to point out is that the worrying we do is all in our heads anyway. We just tend to blow things all out of proportion. If we struggle paying a bill we think the next step is homelessness! A bill is late so not only are we horrible money managers and irresponsible failures we’re bound for homelessness! All because your cell phone bill isn’t paid! Ok, that’s a silly example but i’m sure you can think of a time in your own life where you’re calm, cool and collected-self handled a stressful situation less than stellar. I know it’s not just me!

The thing we’ve got to keep in mind is that we are bigger than the stresses of the world. Don’t crumble when faced with adversity because life is a LOT worse than a late bill payment. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to live my life always worrying about stuff. I want to live and enjoy it! It’s so easy to get consumed with trying to keep up financially, physically and in business. Just take a step back and go at your own pace. That’s all you need to do.

So my advice to overcome blown-out-of-proportion stress?

If you have a problem, write down solutions. Simple as that! Once you can clearly see that there IS a solution (though it may not be ideal) to your problem, it makes it easier to let it go. It also strengthens the problem-solving skills that you can use in your business. No one wants to work with someone who is constantly crumbling under pressure. Start solving your problems in a healthy way. Start today.

Don’t let stress rule your life. You have a choice in the matter.
